A year after the floods, Greenpeace climbers from seven countries occupy the 200 meter high chimney at Spolana Neratovice, the chemical factory situated on the bank of the River Elbe in the Czech Republic. The activists unfold a gigantic banner and call to the management of Spolana to accept corporate responsibility for toxic pollution of the surrounding area. Greenpeace also demands that the chemical factory compensates all its victims. For years Greenpeace has commanded that Spolana secures its surroundings against toxic pollution from its premises and cleans up contaminated soil and buildings. The area of Spolana was flooded during record floods in 2002 and chemicals leaked into the river.
