Greenpeace Seoul launches the Clicking Clean Campaign to challenge the IT companies and government to change their energy policy in Korea. In particular, Greenpeace Seoul demands Korea’s data center companies to take the truly innovative and sustainable leadership in the Korean market as well as in the global market.
Greenpeace Seoul has continuously demanded the renewable energy (RE) direct access for the IT sectors since 2015. Currently Korea’s IT giant, Naver is expanding its business to the global level, and many Korean IT companies are following Naver’s lead. Korea’s monopoly utility system lacks of access to renewable electricity for the IT companies. Without key policy changes, the ever-increasing growth of the Internet in Korea will bring more fossil fuel sources of electricity.
