The rally is part of a global day of action held on June 29, with more than 70 events in 12 countries. The day of action is linked to a first-of-its-kind convergence in Istanbul from 24-30 June 2013, with 500 climate-movement leaders from 135 countries. This event, Global Power Shift, is the starting point of a new wave of climate movement activism in 2013 and beyond. These activists will return home to kick off National Power Shifts across the globe to catalyse powerful national movements calling for bold climate action. Greenpeace, 350.org, Avaaz.org, and other global partners support the growth of grassroots activism that is essential in winning the coal fight. All over the world, communities, business groups and civil society are standing up and taking bold steps to pressure their governments to switch from coal to clean, sustainable, renewable energy.Related Collections:'End the Age of Coal' Day of Action (Photo + Video)
