Abandoned House in Iitoi
Picture of a yearly religious festival in Iitate on the wall of Ms Ikeda's house.
Ms Satsuki Ikeda, who's family has been living in Iitate for 9 generations, running a farm together with her sons. She is devastated and has been evacuated to Fukushima City where
she stays in a relief centre. She cannot sleep due to the noise, she misses her old village, her
work and most of all she misses growing and preparing her own food. She sometimes goes
back for a day or so, to check and maintain her house. The entire community of Iitate has
been scattered around several cities. Every two months they try to meet, talking about the
problems they face. And how and where to organize several religious festivals which still play
an important role in village life.
