Greenpeace Romania activists formed a blockade in front of the Ministry of Energy headquarters, demanding the Minister of Energy, Virgil Popescu, and the key decision makers of the Ministry, to accelerate the energy transition in Romania, to stop illegally granting considerable amounts of public money to subsidize the polluting and inefficient coal industry and to instead start prioritizing and investing the available European funding towards the sustainable development of mining regions, centered around economic alternatives, green energy and energy efficiency.
