Action to Encourage TW 7-Eleven to Move towards Plastic Reduction in Taiwan
In early October 2020, Greenpeace East Asia Taiwan office conducted the second plastic reduction corporate ranking for the nine major retailers in Taiwan. Right before the results were released, TW 7-Eleven replied that they have a target to eliminate single used plastics. It is expected they will announce the plastic reduction mid-term and long term goal in mid-2021. They will also further evaluate the implementation of the rental cup model.
Therefore, on October 24, 2020, Greenpeace activists came to the home baseball court of Tainan Uni-Lions, which is owned by TW 7-Eleven and raised a banner with the message "Home run for TW 7-Eleven plastic reduction" to encourage TW 7-Eleven to roll out the plastic reduction actions as soon as possible.
