British MPs in London are Addressed on the Mahan Forests
Greenpeace India campaigners Priya Pillai, Akshay Gupta and Areeba Hamid as well as Greenpeace UK campaigner Will Mc Callum address British Parliamentarians Martin Horwood (Liberal Democrats) and Virendra Sharma (Labour, Solihull) about Essar Energy's bid to destroy one of India's richest forest areas, threatening the livelihoods of local villagers. Essar Energy is a London-based company. Priya Pillai had been invited by the All Party Parliamentary Group (APGG) in the British Parliament to talk to MPs about London-based Essar Energy and their destructive plans for the forests of Mahan. She was not able to attend in person after being barred from boarding her flight to London by the Indian government.
