The Electric Jeepney is the first public transport of its kind in Southeast Asia and is launched in a historic drive along Ayala Avenue in the Financial District of Makati by GRIPP (Green Renewable Independent Power Producer), Greenpeace, and the Makati City Government. The Electric Jeepney's are an electric-powered version of the Philippine icon which traces its roots to the US Willy's jeep and are part of an innovative project led by GRIPP. The vehicles are fossil fuel free to help mitigate climate change, whilst addressing urban problems such as air pollution and solid waste.
