Climate Justice Activity in Marikina, Philippines
Victims of climate disasters wear masks with "Climate Justice" text during a protest under a bridge along the Marikina River. Members of Greenpeace Philippines, together with Typhoon survivors from Marikina and Rizal protest in Marikina City, following the Commission on Human Rights resolution that fossil fuel companies are responsible for the human rights harms and threats arising from the climate crisis.
The groups call on our incoming leaders to use this opportunity to adopt the Commission's findings and hold big polluters to account for the climate-damaging impacts of their businesses.
Marikina is one of the hardest hit cities in the area during typhoon season in the Philippines, where calamities have worsened resulting to heavy rains and severe flooding in various parts of the country.
