A communications tower belonging to the Chinese government is at the base camp of Mount Everest. Greenpeace are in Tibet investigating the deterioration of glaciers in the area and the impact on the environment and its surrounding villages. The Rongbuk Glaciers are one of the prime sources of water feeding into the major rivers of China and India. Glaciers in the Himalaya are receding faster than in any other part of the world as a result of global warming.
