Contaminated sports field in Fukushima City
Radiation levels two times above normal. The normal rate before the Fukushima nuclear disaster was 0.08 microsieverts an hour.
A decontaminated sports field at Watari School, Fukushima City. Many parts of Fukushima City exhibit levels of radioactive pollution too high to be considered safe, especially for children. The government removed the topsoil of this field to reduce contamination levels. While the dose rate has dropped, neighbouring areas still show significant levels of contamination.
