Forests Indonesia Tour
An Indonesian worker loads timber from a small vessel into the hold of a larger boat off the shore of Kalimantan, near the mouth of the Seruyan River, in the South East section of the Tanjung Putting National Park. The park is home to a rapidly diminishing population of orang-utans. Orang-utans are on the verge of extinction due to the destruction of their natural habitat and even in national parks in Indonesia these endangered animals are not protected from illegal logging. Current estimates, according to the Indonesian Government, are that almost 90% of all logging in Indonesia is totally illegal.
