Measuring Radiation on Crops
A Greenpeace radiation monitoring team member tests food crops for contamination as Tatsuko Ogawara looks on. Ogawara has been an organic farmer near Tamura City, 40km from the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear plant, for 30 years. She says that she is afraid for her children's future, and feels ashamed that she didn’t take action against the nuclear power station before it was too late. She no longer knows if she can continue as a farmer, as the soil in the area may be contaminated. Greenpeace is working in the area to monitor radioactive contamination of food and soil to estimate the health and safety risks for the local population.
