A rare Mediterranean dealfish or Ribbonfish (Trachipterus trachypterus) swims close to the Island of Ponza (Isola di Ponza) through the Mediteranean Sea.
The Mediterranean dealfish occurrs worldwide. It is native to all oceans of tropical and subtropical waters. It lives in depths from 100 to 600 meters, with rare reports of depths of up to 1000 meters.
