Oiled birds at the beach of North Sea island Amrum, which have been polluted because of the Pallas oil spill. The ‘Pallas’ lost about 244 tonnes of fuel oil and oil sludge and the environmental consequences were enormous; 26,000 birds were oiled of which at least 16,000 died .
