Protest against Počerady Coal Power Plant in Czech Republic
Environmental organisations Greenpeace, Hnutí DUHA (Friends of the Earth Czech Republic) and grassroot initiative Limity jsme my organised happening against the sale of the biggest Czech coal power plant Počerady and for closing the plant instead. They handed over the petition along with signatures of 10 398 people and 60 opinion makers from Czech political, medical, scientific and cultural life - for example two former prime ministers and four ministers of environment - asking to close the power plant as soon as possible. The plant is the number one climate killer in Czech republic and one of the biggest air polluter. It was responsible for 111 premature deaths in 2017.
There were speeches of actor Vladimír Škultéty, Jiří Koželouh (FoE), Lukáš Hrábek (Greenpeace) and Marika Volfová (Limity jsme my) during the protest.
