With chalk paint they paint huge capital letters reading "Autobahn" (highway) with the first part „Auto“ (car) of the word crossed out thus leaving the word „Bahn“, meaning 'train'. With this word game the activists call on the German government to invest in alternatives such as the railways to protect the climate. For the further expansion of the controversial 'A49' freeway thousands of hectares of the nearby Dannenröder forest, an intact mixed forest with some trees over 200 years old are to be cleared. Moreover the new section is located in a drinking water reservoir area. Includes statement by Benjamin Stephan, Greenpeace Germany expert (in German).
