The Rainbow Warrior III Festival in Amsterdam
On the 14th October 2011 at a ceremony in Berne-Motzen, Greenpeace launched the third version of the protest vessel the Rainbow Warrior. Built as a campaigning vessel she carries state of the art communications equipment, two fast rescue boats and can support a helicopter. Her unique A-frame masts carry 1260m2 of sail helping keep her carbon footprint to a minimum and making her one of the most environmentally friendly vessels of her class. As the new Rainbow Warrior continues her maiden voyage from Hamburg to Amsterdam, she passes the Prinses Amalia wind farm 12 miles from the coast of IJmuiden. The park consists of 60 windmills which are able to supply 125,000 homes with clean energy.
