World Day in Defense of the Sea - March in Mar del Plata
Within the framework of a World Day in defense of the sea, new marches are held in Buenos Aires, Mar del Plata and other cities of the Atlantic Coast in rejection of oil exploration in the Argentine Sea. On December 30, the Argentine Ministry of Environment and Sustainable Development submitted Equinor's request to carry out seismic exploration in its CAN 100, 108 and 114 blocks in the North Argentine basin, off the southern coast of the province of Buenos Aires. According to Greenpeace Andino, seismic exploration is the first step for oil exploitation in the Argentine Sea.
