Burning CO2-Symbol - Coal fired Power plant Jänschwalde - News Access
Cottbus, 26.11.2008: With a burning CO2 sign Greenpeace activists protest at the brown coal fired power plant, Jänschwalde in Lausitz, against further use of this climate destabilising fuel. This brown coal power plant, owned by the energy company Vattenfall, is one of the most climate-killing power plants in Germany by emitting 25 billion tons of CO2 a year. Greenpeace tries to engage the people of Brandenburg to sign in a petition for a referendum (Volksbegehren) against the settlement of new open-pit lignite mines.
