Spessart Beech Forest Camp against Logging in Bavaria - News Access
For several weeks, 69 activists camp in the Bavarian Spessart and document the population of over 140-year-old, ecologically particularly valuable beech and oak trees in sometimes freezing cold. They mapped an area of 6800 hectares by means of GPS devices and evaluated aerial shots. The hereby created 17 maps and graphics show the specific nature of the area and reveal the threat of industrial logging for these forests. Here: Shots of tree logging (30.11.2011); 31.01.2012: Setup of the camp and tents; banner; preparation with GPS devices and map; activists measure beech trees, examine already logged trees and their diameters, diverse shots of marked trees for felling; shots of nearly clear-cut area.
