Protest Flight for a Green Monetary Policy in Frankfurt am Main - News Access with German Statement
No money for climate killers -that’s what Greenpeace activists are demanding at the headquarters of the European Central Bank in Frankfurt. Coming from the air, they unfurled a twelve by six metre banner from the roof of the entrance building with the slogan: "Stop funding Climate Killers!” Another activist on a paraglider protests with a flying banner in front of the ECB headquarters. Inside, the Council meeting with members of the Executive Board and the presidents of the European central banks will take place this morning under the leadership of Christine Lagarde. "The ECB is stalling. Instead of quickly presenting a strategy for monetary policy to deal with the climate crisis, the responsible leaders remain vague. They are allowing climate-damaging companies in particular to benefit from the status quo of the ECB's monetary policy," says Mauricio Vargas, financial expert at Greenpeace Germany.
