Every year, hundreds of Cameroonians die, or are left displaced due to flooding caused by blocked drainage. One of the culprits is plastic pollution. Cameroon produces 600,000 tonnes of plastic waste every year, the highest in Central Africa. Only 20 percent of this waste is recycled. Corporations like Coca-Cola, Nestlé and Unilever top African brand audits annually because of their insistent use of plastic bottles. We need them #BreakFreeFromPlastic and adopt reuse and refill distribution models.
