Comedian Dan Ilic Chats to West Coast Eagles Fans about AGL's Sportswashing - Web Video [16:9 SUBTITLES]
Greenpeace volunteers, activists, and comedian Dan Ilic attend an AFL football match at Marvel Stadium in Melbourne, Australia armed with a giant inflatable coal, placards and a parody of the West Coast Eagles' team mascot: the West Coal Eagle.
The West Coast Eagles team is sponsored by AGL - Australia's biggest climate polluter - in an act of sportswashing. AGL hopes that by aligning themselves with things like a sport team or community event, that it will draw attention away from their climate polluting activities. But, try as they might, this expensive branding deal can’t cover the reality that AGL's climate pollution is too big to hide!
