Climate Action in front of the Louvre Museum in Paris
Several Greenpeace France activists made an action in front of the Louvre museum to denounce the museum's complicity with the oil major TotalEnergies. They stood up in front of the Louvre pyramid with banners “Let's make a law for a world without oil” and “Ban fossil fuel propaganda”.
By accepting money from a fossil fuel company with climaticide activity, the Louvre is complicit.
As a cultural institution with international influence, the Louvre has a strong social responsibility. It must therefore take up the climate issue! Like all cultural institutions, the Louvre must end any partnership with the fossil industry, which is primarily responsible for greenhouse gas emissions.
They also erected an 8-meter-high fake derrick that spewed non-toxic black smoke to symbolize the multinational oil and gas firm's location within the museum. Further on, 10 activists displayed a banner “Climate: Total criminal, the Louvre accomplice” on the Louvre building.
An actor played Patrick Pouyanne (TotalEnergies CEO) as a project manager of this skit.
