The Pelagic Australis arrives in the Netherlands.
The sailing ship Pelagic Australis has been donated to Greenpeace by a major donor. During the transfer, the crew received a traditional ceremony in Cape Town harbor to wish the sailing vessel and crew the best of luck. The crew sailed from Cape Town, via the Azores, to Amsterdam in 6 weeks. At the Oranje Werf, the ship has undergone a refit with green improvements and the sailing ship was given a new name. A competition was devised where our loyal supporters could come up with a name and submit it. We had more than 2,000 registrations. Witness is the new name of the ship.
