"Gas: Window for Disaster" Protest Exhibit in Israel
Following the publication of the recommendations by Adiri’s committee for further development of the gas industry in the eastern Mediterranean, Greenpeace Israel activists protest in front of the ministry of energy in Jerusalem against the intentions to open new sites for drilling and exploration of fossil gas designated for export.
During the activity the activists hold an exhibition with a painted image showing drought and death, symbolizing a view of the future caused by the climate change chaos, and the text “window of opportunity”.
They also hold hand banners reading “Gas: a window for disaster”. In the discussions of the committee, the participants commented that due to the climate emergency and the transition to a low carbon economy the gas industry left “only” 20 years to sell the fossil fuel, and therefore the exploration should be hurried.
