Protesters outside Duke Energy display the variety of dangerous toxic chemicals leaking into the Dan River from an unlined coal ash containment pond at a retired Duke coal plant. The group was demanding Duke clean up its toxic waste. Tens of thousands of tons of toxic coal ash continue to spill into the Dan River, which provides drinking water for people in Danville, Virginia and beyond.
