Candace Campo - Indigenous Delegate - Vancouver
Candace Campo, ancestral name xets’emits’a (to always be there), is a proud member of the Shíshálh Nation, Xenichen Wolf clan, one of the four main clans of her tribe. The Shíshálh (Sechlet) people, are Coast Salish, and reside within the Salish Sea on the Sunshine Coast and local inlets, Queens Reach, Princess Lousa, Jervis Inlet, Hotham Sound Narrows, Salmon and Sechelt Inlet. A passionate entrepreneur, outdoor enthusiast and storyteller, Candace started her first company Talaysay Tours in 2002 and in 2014 started a central tour booking company Aboriginal & Eco Tours. Candace is committed to environmental sustainability and will take a stand for the land. Trained as an anthropologist and school teacher, sharing outdoor education, history and culture was a dream made possible by growing up on the land and being taught by her parents and elders the stories, oral history and language of her people. She also works with her community, the Shíshálh (Sechelt) Nation as a cultural director.
