Local Farmers in Rice Fields in Philippines
Farmers in Brgy. New Antique in M’Lang, North Cotabato, walk through the dried up irrigation canal and rice fields severely affected by EL Niño.
Greenpeace is asking the government to provide short- and long-term support to farmers affected by El Niño and to provide support to farmers transitioning from conventional to ecological farming. The government should also implement programs or long-term solutions that will respond to the effects and impacts of climate change, including on food security.
