An undercover reporter filmed unopened recycling bags being thrown into bins marked ‘general waste’ at the Western Riverside Waste Authority Recycling Facility in South London – alongside other plastic and cardboard items.
The company operating the plant, Cory Riverside Energy, told Unearthed that the material was contaminated and had to be binned. This footage was filmed as part of a joint investigation by Unearthed, Greenpeace UK’s journalism project, and The Telegraph.
