Today we are witnessing the handover of Social Forestry Permit (HPHD) for Manggroholo
and Sira community.

pertama di Papua yang dapat diberikan kepada masyarakan agar mereka mampu
mengembangkan dan mengelola hutannya secara berkelanjutan. Kami berharap [ini] dapat
dikembangkan menjadi contoh untuk wilayah2 di papua agar masyarakat memiliki akses
dalam pengelolaan hutan yang berkelanjutan. Dengan projek kehutanan sosial ini kami
berharap dapat menahan laju deforestasi di tanah papua.”
“This is the first permit ever passed in Papua which is given to community so the community
are able to develop and manage their forest in a sustainable way. We hope this can be
developed to be a best practice. With this social forestry project we are hoping to stop
deforestation in Papua.

oleh rohnya dia bekerja melalui bapak ibu, semua pemangku jabatan, semua pemangku
kebijakan, dan juga semua LSM, semuanya yang membantu kami dalam proses ini mulai dari
pemetaan, mempersiapkan masyarakat, pihak LSM dan juga terutama kepada Greenpeace
karena Greenpeace adalah teman kami selalu, selalu mengajak kami berkampanye. Jadi kami
tidak harus menunggu waktu pemilu untuk berkampanye. Kami ada kampanye untuk
penyelamatan masyarakat Papua dan hutan Papua. Dan, itu yang kami kembangkan. Sampai
sekarang berjalan terus. Kami berharap semua harus berpikir yang sama sehingga kita seiya
sekata dalam membangun kesejahteraan dalam proses ini.”
In the name of customary community, I would like to thank specifically to Lord Allah for his
holy spirit has worked through all ladies and gentlemen here - all stakeholders, all policy
maker, all parties that has supported us getting through this process – and all NGO
especially Greenpeace because Greenpeace will always be friend of us as it always asks us to
campaign. So, we don’t have to wait for general election period to campaign. We are
campaigning to save Papua people and Papuan forest. That is what we develop and it’s still
on until now. We hope all can have the same thought and words to develop prosperity
through this process.”
