Remotely Operated Vehicle Deployment in Svalbard
A Greenpeace team is looking at the seabed of the Barents Sea via a remotely operated vehicle camera built and piloted by Gavin Newman. From left to right are: Sune Scheller (Campaign Coordinator) Gavin Newman (operating ROV) Larissa Beumer (Campaigner), in the hold of the Arctic Sunrise. Most of the fishing vessels operating in the area are using bottom trawl, pulling huge nets to scoop up fish, a practice which is damaging to the seabed and all the creatures that live here.
