As a 2002 moratorium on industrial logging concessions in the Democratic Republic of Congo comes under threat, local communities seek alternatives to protect the forest and their livelihoods.
In the last 15 years period the Congolese government repeatedly violated the moratorium and now, CAFI, a Norwegian-led fund, is considering lifting the moratorium and expanding industrial logging. This would put at risk the habitat of threatened species and the chance for forest communities to manage their livelihood.
