Group Action Day in Berlin for an Antarctic Sanctuary
Members of the Greenpeace volunteers group in Berlin wearing penguin costumes, hold a sign reading "Protect the Antarctic" during a Group Action Day. In combination with an information stand the group highlights an historic opportunity for marine conservation: in Autumn 2018, the Antarctic Commission CCAMLR (Commission for the Conservation of Antarctic Marine Living Resources) will decide on the creation of the world's largest marine protected area in the Weddell Sea.
72 volunteer groups in 75 German cities are taking part.
