Rainbow Warrior Bombing - Web Video
On July 10, 1985 the original Rainbow Warrior, was bombed in Auckland harbour by French agents to prevent her disrupting France’s nuclear testing programme in the Pacific. A month earlier, the ship had been in the northern Pacific helping to relocate the community of Rongelap to Mejato island to escape the continuing effects from nuclear fallout. Once the relocation of the islanders, and all their belongings, was completed, the ship and crew visited Kiribati and Vanuatu before heading to New Zealand.
