A Greenpeace ballet dancer performed her own version of the “Dying Swan” perishing in oil sludge just before the start of the „Classical Highlights“ concert at the Tonhalle in Zurich. Her performance called attention to event's sponsor, the Russian energy conglomerate Gazprom whose activities are jeopardizing the livelihood and the survival of people and animals in the arctic. Gazprom wants to drill for oil in the Arctic and in doing so plays a high stakes game of Russian roulette with one of the earth’s last unspoiled ecosystems, with its human inhabitants and its unique fauna.
